For the last fifteen years The Haunted Farm accumulated quite a collection of creepy things spread throughout seven buildings on the farm. Be prepared as it takes anywhere from half-an-hour to an hour-and-a-half to make it through this haunt.
Robed guides lead each group through a variety of scenarios, including a room that's been turned into a funeral parlor, a crematorium and a graveyard.
In between buildings and a bonfire, a walk through the woods reveals some of Mel Nygaard's handiwork. Animated creatures of all types leap out from the trees at passersby, propelled by pneumatic "jumps."
In this part of the country October brings a chill in the air for more than one reason.
Mel Nygaard owner/operator of The Haunted Farm likes to scare people. For over Fifteen years Mel, his family and friends have been setting up a 45 minute guided tour through an array of items that go bump in the night and raise the hairs on the back of your neck. Now the set up seems to include some real ghosts.
"Ghosts, spirits, angels..." Mel ponders, "I was very skeptical then ...well...I believe now. We have four cameras monitoring the house and all four have shown white apparitions floating in the air at all times of the day and night." After setting up infrared cameras and finding a number of white orb like objects on the monitors, Mel called in Steve Rowley from Ghost Hunters out of Grand Forks. Steve has a passion for the paranormal and has started an independent network of people like him. Kristin, a sensitive was brought in to verify the discovery. She senses a spectrum of spectators on Mel's land. "One of the things I pick up on is names, I'm not sure if they are names of people currently living or dead, but there is a lot of activity here", Kristin comments.
Mel believes one of the names is his brother's, who passed over to the other side a while back. Mel exclaims, "I don't have any answers for it". And neither do the Ghost Hunters. We verify their presence Kristin states, we aren't Ghost Busters.
