Windows Size Notes:

  1. For your convenience, you can download all /images on this site in either 640x480 or 1024 x768 pixel resolution depending on which link below the thumbnail you click (be sure to rename each one before downloading another). These are the most common desktop resolutions used today. If you are using a different resolution, after they are downloaded they can be resized in almost any paint or photo editing program.
  2. If you are using Windows 98 and have downloaded an image smaller than your desktop resolution size, you have a couple of other options:
    1. Right-click on the desktop, choose "Properties," "Background" tab and set the "Display" box (lower right corner) to "Stretch." This setting will automatically resize the wallpaper to fit whatever resolution you are using, and will automatically resize the image every time you change monitor (desktop) resolutions. Be aware, though, that the resizing function of Windows 98 is less than perfect and can result in mildly distorted /images. Probably the best use for this is if you change resolutions a lot.
    2. Another option is to set the "Display" box to "Center," and use the resulting background border around the wallpaper image as space for your icons.
  3. If you are using Windows NT, the options are to "Tile" or "Center" the image.

Mac Size Notes:

  1. For your convenience, you can download all /images on this site in either 640x480 or 1024 x768 pixel resolution depending on which link below the thumbnail you click. These are the most common desktop resolutions used today.
  2. If you choose an image that is smaller than your desktop resolution, you have a choice to "Tile," "Center," "Scale," "Fill Screen" or "Position Automatically." (One choice is to "Center" and use the resulting background border around image as space for your icons.) Experiment to see which you like best.
